Acclaimed as America’s premier postclassical string quartet, ETHEL invigorates contemporary concert music with refreshing exuberance, fierce intensity, imaginative programming and exceptional artistry. Formed in 1998, New York’s ebullient ETHEL is comprised of Juilliard-trained performers Jennifer Choi (violin), Cornelius Dufallo (violin), Ralph Farris (viola), and Dorothy Lawson (cello). Launched in 2007, ETHEL’s TruckStop® project examines, unites, and honors indigenous communities, cultures, and music. TruckStop® takes ETHEL on the road and around the globe to create innovative new work through rich collaborations with established and emerging artists from a vast array of genres, traditions, and geographic regions by means of community-driven residencies and locally hosted performances. ETHEL also conducts education programs based on the TruckStop® collaborative model; these programs range from master classes to short- and long-term residencies on campuses and in conservatories.

Recognized as one of Hawaii’s most versatile musicians, Jeff Peterson is at the heart of the Hawaiian music scene today. His passion for the guitar has allowed him to shine as a solo artist and has given him the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of artists from Hawaii, across the US, and abroad. His focus on Slack Key guitar, classical, and jazz music has allowed him to develop a unique and transcendent voice on the guitar while being deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. He has contributed to two Grammy Award-winning recordings and has been honored with three Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in Hawaii.
